Everything you need to know about ordering, materials, OEM services, and compatibility.

General

What is SUMTHIN?
SUMTHIN (Haining Sanxin Razor & Scissors Co., Ltd.) is a precision clipper and trimmer blade manufacturer founded in 2004, located in Haining, Zhejiang, China. We are one of China's top 3 clipper blade manufacturers with 360 employees, a 40,000 m² facility, and over 200 SKUs across 8 product categories.
What products do you manufacture?
We manufacture hair clipper blades, detachable A5 blades (MIM powder metallurgy), T-blades and U-blades, zirconia ceramic moving blades, nose hair trimmer heads, eyebrow trimmer blades, pet grooming blades (A5 D-series and 128-series), and sheep shearing blades. Over 200 SKUs in total.
What materials do you work with?
We specialize in three material platforms: hardened stainless steel (440C, HRC 58-62) for standard blades, MIM powder metallurgy for complex geometries like A5 detachable blades, and zirconia ceramic for premium blades with 5x longer edge life and 75% less heat than steel.
Do you have OEM experience?
Yes. We have been a precision blade machining partner to leading US professional clipper brands for over 15 years. We supply semi-finished blade components that undergo further processing at the brand's facility. We also manufacture finished blades under the SUMTHIN brand and for private label clients.

Ordering & Shipping

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
MOQ varies by product and customization level. Standard catalog blades: 500 pieces per SKU. Private label (existing blade + your branding): 1,000 pieces. Custom mold OEM: 3,000-5,000 pieces for first order. We offer flexible MOQ programs for Amazon sellers and startups.
What are your payment terms?
Standard terms: 30% deposit via T/T (wire transfer) with balance before shipment. We also accept L/C (Letter of Credit) for orders above $10,000. For established customers with order history, we may offer open account terms.
What is the typical lead time?
Standard catalog items: 15-20 business days. Private label orders: 25-35 days. Custom OEM with new mold: 45-60 days (including mold development). Rush orders may be available for select products.
Do you provide samples?
Yes. We provide sample sets for quality evaluation before bulk orders. Standard samples ship within 3-5 business days. Custom or branded samples take 7-10 days. Sample costs are typically credited toward your first bulk order.
What shipping methods do you use?
We ship via sea freight (FOB Ningbo/Shanghai), air freight, and express courier (DHL/FedEx/UPS). We can ship to your warehouse, Amazon FBA centers, or any destination worldwide. All export documentation is handled by our logistics team.

Technical & Compatibility

What is MIM powder metallurgy?
MIM (Metal Injection Molding) is an advanced manufacturing process that combines the design flexibility of plastic injection molding with the strength and hardness of machined metal. We inject fine metal powder mixed with a binder into precision molds, then sinter at high temperature to achieve near-net-shape parts with HRC 60-62 hardness. Ideal for complex blade geometries like A5 detachable blades.
How do ceramic blades compare to steel?
Our zirconia ceramic moving blades offer 5x longer edge life and generate 75% less heat than steel during operation. They are hypoallergenic and resist corrosion. The tradeoff: ceramic is more brittle than steel and can chip if dropped on hard surfaces. Ceramic blades are drop-in replacements for steel — same mounting geometry.
What is DLC nano coating?
DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) is an ultra-thin coating (1-3 micrometers) applied to blade surfaces to increase hardness (up to HV 2000), reduce friction, and improve aesthetics. We apply DLC in-house in 5 colors: black, gold, rose gold, blue, and rainbow. DLC-coated blades are popular for premium retail products.
Are your blades compatible with Wahl, Andis, and Oster?
Yes. We manufacture compatible replacement blades for Wahl®, Andis®, Oster®, and 20+ additional brands including Wmark, VGR, KEMEI, Codos, LAUBE, and Shernbao. See our Compatibility Guide for detailed cross-reference tables.
What certifications does your factory hold?
Our facility is ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) certified, SGS audited, and designated as a National High-Tech Enterprise by the Chinese government. We hold 20+ utility patents for blade design and manufacturing processes.
